All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. (Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 1)

Why did we establish a Human Rights Center?

In order to meet the following two significant needs regarding human rights through researches in Turkey and around the world:

a) to contribute to the determination of the content of the concept of human rights and each of the rights themselves;

b) to play an active role in the involvement of the ethical dimension, which is generally ignored within the human rights education but is actually the basic dimension of the human rights, and to apply a new model, that is a new philosophical-ethical inter-disciplinary program, responding to the purpose of protecting the human rights more and more throughout the life;

Our center conducts studies towards,

a) the development of sensitivity of human rights,

b) the removal of the lack of information in the field of human rights,

c) the determination of the ethical basis of the human rights,

d) the organization of scientific activities regarding human rights,

e) the cooperation with other national and international institutions regarding the human rights,

f) the provision of consultancy and education services regarding the human rights,

f) the publication of human rights-related issues.
